Thanks to the Park and Stride Parents

The park and stride scheme has now been going for nearly a term and many thanks to all of you who park up at St. Columbas.  Mrs Denton today gave some of the parents who have been distributing the stickers a small present at our final Junior assembly of 2008! The parents received some fingerless gloves to keep their hands warm whilst giving stickers and a santa mug to have a hot drink!

Our parent helpers get their presents.

The children who have completed a pages worth of walking got a Firs fridge magnet and when they complete the 2nd page they will have a pedometer. After that we have some funky park and stride collectables so look out for that in 2009.

Parking considerately of our neighbours is very important. Today in Well Lane a parent parked across the drive of a neighbour who consequently missed an appointment. We have to advise our neighbours to phone the police in these situations. Most parents park considerately and this is appreciated however the minority that don’t do so get a bad name for the rest of us.  In 2009 please think of this if you cannot park at St Columbas.

Christmas Service raises £900 for charity!

Well done to all the school for a great christmas service last Wednesday. Each year group performed a song and the School choir and Chamber choir performed. I especially liked the “Heaven invites you to a party” with the voices calling out from around All Saints church.

The collection over the two services raised just over £900. Thank you very much to the parents and friends who contributed. The money will be split equally and go to Shelter and Chester Aid to the Homeless.

Videos of performances will be posted here. For more photos please request to join the Firs School Photo group by sending an e-mail to admin@firsschool.net
